Climate protection is part of our ecological and social responsibility. Protecting our environment and our resources is an integral part of our corporate policy. In all areas, we are continuously reducing energy and water consumption, CO2 emissions and waste generation. For example, dome lights and motion detectors have been installed to save electricity, plastic bottles and cups have given way to glass bottles and thermo cups, and in the area of marketing, our exhibition stands are made of over 90% recyclable materials and the print media are made of 100% recycled material.
When catering for our visitors and employees, we do not offer drinks in plastic bottles because the ecological balance of plastic bottles, despite their low weight, is negative compared to glass bottles. Glass bottles can be used much more often in the deposit system before they have to be sorted out and melted down again. In addition, plastic bottles may release components from the plastic mixture into the beverage.
We only sell beverages in glass bottles.
Our tap water is of very good quality. We encourage our employees to consume tap water and have installed water dispensers to make the water sparkling.
Our advertising materials are selected according to their sustainability and environmental compatibility. There are many possibilities: Stainless steel lunch boxes, notebooks made of recycled paper, fair trade chocolate, shopping bags made of organic cotton or recycled paper, mouse pads made of cork, seed bags bee pasture, T-shirts made of organic cotton, etc.
Konvekta also makes sure that the process of cleaning our colleagues' workwear is as environmentally friendly as possible.
The workwear is collected, picked up by our dry cleaner MEWA, cleaned and transported back.
The preservation of the environment and the responsible use of resources are essential components of our partner.
The declared goal: optimal washing results with the lowest possible use of water, energy and detergents. The results are impressive: Several million liters of heating oil are saved, the use of fresh water has been halved, and energy is generated from dirt.
Responsible treatment of nature through environmentally friendly production processes, heat recovery, thermal utilization of residual materials, wastewater treatment, raw material recycling and, last but not least, a technically mature cascade system for the economical use of fresh water.
This makes an important contribution to preserving the environment by conserving resources and minimizing waste.
The reusable principle of MEWA textile management avoids a great deal of waste and conserves valuable resources. Textile laundry bags and durable containers are also used for transporting and storing our products.
Our exhibition stands are always designed in such a way that the individual wall, floor and exhibition elements can be reused several times, thus helping to save resources and costs in many ways.
Consistently sustainable paper procurement is also an essential part of this canon for us. We have converted our office paper to 100 percent recycled paper with the "Blue Angel" seal, which guarantees a share of 100 percent recycled paper. We also consistently use recycled paper with the environmental seal for brochures and operating instructions.
Compared to virgin fiber paper, recycled paper saves up to 60 percent energy and up to 70 percent water, it causes significantly less CO2 during processing and thus reduces waste and emissions. In addition, far fewer chemicals are required during production and the waste water load is up to ten times lower.
And: no trees are felled, which is becoming increasingly important for us in times of climate change - the raw material "recovered paper" is virtually on our doorstep.
You can see our commitment to the environment at first glance in this light grey recycled paper. It shows that we are serious about sustainability.
Furthermore, we promote the implementation of "paperless production", i.e. we examine what savings can be achieved by paperless production through the use of monitors and software in terms of working time, wage costs, material costs, total costs.
In May 2018, our fleet of vehicles was supplemented by an electric car, a Renault ZOE. The car is mainly used by our courier service and is mainly on short distances around our plants.
From January 2021, we will obtain 100% of our electricity from ecological sources, certified by TÜV Rheinland. The electricity is generated in Norway in hydroelectric power plants.
An internal monitoring audit regularly checks whether the requirements for environmental protection and sustainability are being met and where potential can be found.
For example, the correct separation of waste and the possibilities for avoiding waste materials are checked. For example, the production, central warehouse and external warehouse areas are regularly checked to determine where more waste and residual materials are generated and what needs to be changed to avoid or eliminate them. Saving energy is also an issue here. Many areas have been equipped with motion detectors that control lighting and replace conventional light sources with LED lights.

Our climatic hall offers a temperature range from winterly -20 °C to hot +60 °C. In addition, various environmental simulations such as solar radiation or snow deposits can be displayed there.
All cooling and heating processes take place exclusively with natural refrigerants (CO2 and ammonia for cooling and natural gas for heating).
