KONVEKTA AG

Product responsibility

Sustainable from the start

It is a challenge to find a balance between social, economic and ecological factors.
The responsibility for our products extends over the entire life cycle of the products - starting with the raw materials and components used, through development and production, to use and subsequent recycling.
We see our actions and our products as a contribution to solving the climate change, on the one hand by operating in an energy-efficient manner and on the other hand by developing products that help reduce CO2 emissions. We use increasingly scarce raw materials as efficiently as possible, and wherever possible, we develop alternatives that are more sustainable. Our ISO 9001 quality management system includes comprehensive requirements for product safety and quality. product safety and quality.

The production: environmentally friendly and energy efficient

The commitment of Konvekta AG for the environment and its protection is also reflected in our products. All processes for the production of Konvekta air conditioning and heating systems are environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
All systems are 100% recyclable.

Our products of the last years have been continuously optimized so that less and less conventional refrigerant is needed.

During the production of our products no harmful exhaust gases or waste water are produced. All processes are environmentally friendly. The disposal of garbage and scrap parts is carried out strictly according to DIN standards.

All stages of production have been optimized in terms of environment and energy. The use of environmentally friendly components and the economical use of raw materials and energy are further positive characteristics of our products.

Varietal processing

In the production of our air conditioning systems, too, the environment is always in focus. For example, we reduce our waste volume by using reusable packaging and specially developed transport racks.

Konvekta high-performance material

The Konvekta high-performance material offers several benefits as a material. The high leak-tightness and the insulating effect of the material have a favourable impact on the energy requirementFurthermore these systems requires less refrigerant.

This specially developed high-performance material is used as the basis for holding all components, which makes servicing and maintenance very straightforward.

Defective products or waste can be ground again directly in the production process and recycled.

In fact, parts made from the high-performance material can be recycled into the material circulation system even if they come from dismantling or disassembling vehicles or air conditioning systems.

Plastics at Konvekta

In our air conditioning systems, to a large extent Konvekta uses components that either consist of or contain plastics. Hence, it is important for us to install plastics that are recyclable and which can be processed into recyclable materials at the end of their service life or at the time of their disposal.

The plastics used in our components contain the respective material identification and the seal for returning them to the recycling circuit, and this means that better recyclability is ensured. You can see this based on the example of polypropylene.
As a result, recyclate can be obtained from the “waste materials”, granules made from recycled material.

Metals

Since just as many of the components we use, such as piping, separator plates, heat exchangers, etc., are made of metal, we collect and separate metals from damaged or obsolete parts for reprocessing at specialized companies.

For example, aluminum and copper can be recovered for further use.

Carbon Disclosure Project

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a non-profit organisation that was established in the year 2000 in London with the aim of having companies and municipalities publish their environmental data, such as greenhouse gas emissions that are harmful to the environment and water consumption.

KONVEKTA AG is also committed within the framework of this project to stop generating CO2 emissions.

We rely on ecologically sustainable electricity in our production processes and this means that 100% "Green Power" will be drawn from hydroelectric power plants in Norway starting from 2021.

Moreover, we will also rely on sustainability in both the procurement processes and in the supply chain.

Packaging

Additionally we optimized. Reusable building blocks made of a light but robust material support the air conditioning systems and allow easy stacking of several systems. This eliminates the need for additional cardboard and plastic packaging.

Used raw materials - ostracism of hoods made of fiberglass (GFK)

We do not use harmful raw materials. We reject the use of glass fibers for the production of the hoods for our air conditioners. Although glass fiber hoods have a high stability and durability, they can only be recycled with great difficulty and are not degradable due to their chemical components.

When polyester resins are used, styrene vapors are released. These irritate the mucous membranes and respiratory tract. For this reason, the GefStoffV prescribes a maximum occupational exposure limit value (OEL) of 86 mg/m³. In certain concentrations, an explosive mixture may even occur. During the further processing of GRP components (grinding, cutting, sawing), fine dusts and chips with glassy filaments as well as sticky dusts are produced in considerable quantities. These impair the health of people and the functionality of machines and plants.
