mobility move 5.-7.3.2024

Newsbus air conditioning

“mobility move '24” took place from 5th to 7th March 2024 at the Estrel Hotel and Congress Center in Berlin and set new standards in the discussion about the future of electromobility and digitalization in public transport. More than 1,400 participants and 90 exhibitors, including the manufacturer of air conditioning systems and CO2 heat pumps Konvekta, gathered to discuss innovative solutions and challenges in the field of electric buses. The switch to electromobility involves significant technical hurdles, particularly with regard to heating and cooling the vehicles. Electric buses do not generate any waste heat that could conventionally be used for heating purposes and therefore place increased demands on the air conditioning systems. Konvekta's innovative EmCO2s System 2.0 provides the solution to this challenge: an air conditioning network specially developed for electric buses, which is based on the natural refrigerant CO2 and ensures optimum performance with minimum energy consumption.

The system uses a CO2 heat pump with patented technology for refrigerant displacement, which enables both heating and cooling of the vehicle interior and temperature-sensitive components such as batteries or electronics. The EmCO2s System 2.0 achieves energy savings of over 50%, making it an essential component for energy efficiency in electric buses.

The event also impressively highlighted how essential cross-industry dialog is for successfully shaping the mobility transition. As a central hub for in-depth discussions, “mobility move” offers a unique platform for capturing the complexity of the transformation in public transport. It not only highlights the technological challenges of electrification, but also the social and political framework conditions that are essential for the success of a sustainable mobility transition.
