busplaner Innovation Award 2021

Berlin – The Konvekta EmCO2s system (Ecological Mobile CO2 System) has been awarded the International busplaner Sustainability Award 2021.

The trade magazine busplaner has presented the “International busplaner Sustainability Award” for the fifth time.

Outstanding ideas from companies and products were honored that demonstrably make an economic contribution to environmental protection and thereby promote global sustainability.

The winner in the vehicle components category is the new, emission-free heating and air conditioning system EmCO2s. With its heat pump function and the alternative refrigerant CO2, the system impressed the jury.

Based on current measurements during the very cold months behind us, the full efficiency range of the system becomes evident. Vehicles equipped with an EmCO2s system required only 1.58 kWh/km. A system with purely electric heating requires 2.10 kWh/km under the same conditions. At these low temperatures, electric buses with an EmCO2s system were thus able to save approximately 25% energy or increase their range by 25%.

Considering only the consumption of the two heating systems, the EmCO2s system even saves 58% of energy compared to purely electric heating.
